Nikon COOLPIX S4100 14 MP Digital Camera With 5X NIKKOR Wide-Angle Optical Zoom Lens And 3-Inch Touch-Panel LCD (Plum) Review

Never got me to turn this thing on. I bought what was supposed to be a new item and was given a bag with a camera and charger and a frayed fabric tote bag. Without packaging and instructions. Looks like they just pulled an old, possibly refurbished item out of the bin and tossed it in an envelope. Never charged or turned on. I am currently in the return. Save yourself the headache and buy this item elsewhere.

This was the third Coolpix I bought. They're usually great. But this one broke. You have to be careful with the camera's shutter/zoom lens as they were (at least on my last 3) the first and only ones to break. And as soon as they break, the camera shoots. This one comes with an already broken shutter/zoom lens. I sent it back via Revain with no issues and repurchased an updated Coolpix. So far so good with the new one.

I totally agree with some of the other customer reviews. i had the same problems. The camera itself looks great and the touchscreen is really handy, but there are some battery issues and images are often washed out. Yesterday I bought a high speed SDHC card which should be compatible with this camera and sometimes it works and sometimes the camera can't read the card. Of course, I didn't expect all these problems from a Nikon product. I will not buy it again nor will I recommend it.

I had the same problems as most other people with negative comments. This camera didn't even charge the first time after first use. I bought this camera as a small, easy to use camera when I didn't want to lug around a Nikon D3100 to snap a few shots on a short trip. I really love this camera. I had concerns about this after reading the reviews about it. Mainly battery issues. After receiving the camera, I found that when charging, the battery should be plugged into the outlet last. Then, when you disconnect the camera from the charger, unplug it from the power outlet first. Otherwise battery problems may occur. This is clearly stated in the user manual.
