Looks good but our dog refuses to use them

We bought these to help our Chesapeake Bay Retriever get in and out of the Helping trunk of our SUV. He refuses to use them. Even using treats to lure him in and work with him, we managed to get him to only use them once. The steps seem sturdy but too narrow (both width and depth) and too slick for him to want to use them. I like the D-ring to attach them and the handles to steady them. I'll try to get them too modify and some kind of gummier th clutch lining to be placed on top. Otherwise they

Not bad, but not good

So here's the thing, they are very convenient and fold down to a small size. As does the strap on the handle which makes it easy to carry in and out of the car when needed, but nothing really gets blocked when you set it up - you have to position it very slightly to get its most stable position and even then it's not that durable .My dog was able to successfully walk over it 4 times but today he fell very badly. He scratched his stomach terribly because he slipped off almost every metal step.I…

Pros
  • ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT AND ANGLE: Multiple rungs provide a low entry angle, each pet ladder rung measures 17.5" x 6.5", open, adjustable height from 22.4" to 24". .8", adjustable length of 33.1 inches. 44.9". Ideal for most cars, trucks, SUVs and high beds. Suitable for both small and large dogs.

Cheap and Wobbly - Broken Finger

As other reviewers have pointed out these are very fragile and should not be used on dogs over 20lbs if not at all. They are quite steep and slippery and there is no safety lock to keep them from collapsing if a dog is sitting on them. I always had to keep them steady and put my foot on the edge so they wouldn't collapse when my 80lb German Shepherd stepped on them. One day she stepped on it and my hand was in the wrong position and my pinky got caught between the wooden step and the metal…

Pros
  • AVOID INJURY AND GET INTO THE CAR SAFELY: The dog step has two carabiners to attach the ladder to the back of the car and a lower leg to stabilize the steps and provide extra protection for Your dog . Best gift for our pets, protects their knee joints from injury
