This is a very handy tool, but it would be much better if standard sizes were marked on it. I did it a little differently than Marcus D., and mine did it differently depending on whether I was using a ruler or tape measure. So frustrating! I ended up labeling it with the following approximate measurements: 5-1/8", 5-1/2". 5-7/8". 6-1/8". 6-1/2". 6-7/8". 7-1/4". 7-1/2". 8".8-7/8".

As you can see in the photo the edges are smooth, filed and sanded at each step and a few millimeters cut into the cone. However, the item I received is NOT filed or sanded smooth and the stepped jagged steps don't have much depth. It looks like it might have been made in a hurry or by a kid. The conical part is mostly painted, but the "lips/edges" are rough and splintery. Mine also doesn't look like the photos posted by other reviewers so I thought I'd buy them.

I recently bought this to help me make copper and silver bracelets as I am trying to learn how to hammer metal into jewelry. I am very happy with the quality of this wooden mold, it is easy to work with and I think it will last for many years. This shape is of great importance both for my work and for comparing low cost with a stainless steel device.
