Nobsound Precision Passive Controller Preamplifier Review

I really liked the transparency of my music after using the Nobsound passive preamp volume control to bypass all internal signal processing like tone, balance and volume controls on my receiver and preamp. You'll be surprised how good it is that the source is only driven by one power amp. Very clean, fast and open sound.

ALP's are some of the best, prettiest potentiometers on the market and are used in thousands of dollar amps as well as a plethora of professional gear, and you really feel it with this knob. Basically just buy this piece yourself. costs around $35-40 from parts suppliers. So this little passive preamp is a pretty good deal. they probably make next to nothing of them after all is said and done. We recommend.

Just writing this to say I bought the listing advertised as the Hi-Fi version and it included the Alps RK27 pot advertised. I bought this to keep my power amp in use while waiting for a new preamp to be delivered and it did the job well. Nice little useful element to always have on hand, even if it's just for testing. I didn't run channel balance tests or anything, but my center image didn't move or suffer. The case and cinch are very pleasant to the touch.

My Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX computer speakers are over five years old and while I liked them, the volume control has always been jittery, especially lately. I was quite skeptical about buying this product but I checked the seller and confirmed that this is the same company that makes this unit. I think there are fakes out there so keep an eye out. The volume control has a great feel and takes the edge off a "hot" source for my setup. I like to "manage" the volume while listening/working, so it's nice to have a little black box next to the keyboard and mouse so I can make small adjustments depending on the source material. The build quality of this unit is excellent: solid metal, a smooth and well-damped knob, and serious RCA connectors. Unfortunately, the bank is VERY non-linear. At 95% of the knob travel, the volume is 5% of maximum; The volume quickly jumps to the maximum in the last 5% of travel.
