🎙️ Top-Performing Noise Canceling Power Mic for CB/Ham Radio: Astatic RD104E-4B Road Devil (302-10036) Review

This is the perfect mic for my noisy truck, great for loud exhaust, open windows, chatty passengers. This model fits most of the new 4-pin radios on the market and cannot boast of a higher price.

Works great as I use it on the US highway in my Prevost RV, car, pickup truck, it hasn't let me down, I recommend it, the red color Oh good ! still looks good on my Galaxy 949, JR

The microphone was perfect for my needs. The only thing I didn't like was the color (red), but that's why it's called "Road Devil". So I masked the grille and Road Devil logo and painted it 87' Chevy Gun Metal Gray.

For such a highly acclaimed microphone, overall quality was disappointing. It's light and cheap in the hand, and every time I press a key it sounds like I'm squeezing a paper bag. It's ok, but given the reputation of the asstatic I was expecting a much better product.

Excellent communication with the seller. item works. I have this as a backup mic for testing radios. Used it on my Kenwood HF radio in AM mode, muted the sound a bit and the contact said it sounds great! I broke the pile. Go fig! laugh =)

I've been involved with CB since I was 13 years old. Astatic was once the best of the best. While this mic performs great, it's plastic, lightweight, and cheap! This is so disappointing for an Astatic product. The side shift button is so cheap and flimsy it rattles constantly while driving. In terms of functionality, the microphone is not bad, but the quality is cheap Chinese junk.

Good microphone. Gives the sound a lot of sound - too much at full power. Also, my only complaints are: 1) it's bigger than it should be, 2) the power level slider can easily move unintentionally, especially in harsh environments like an off-road setup, and 3) it really needs to be tomato red, what do you notice? Security is minimal in a Jeep anyway, so I don't like hanging a neon-colored microphone on the radio to attract attention and ask thieves to come in and see what else they can find.

I live in San Jose, California and have had reports from other SSB stations in the Midwest and East Coast that the mic is clear and the modulation is good... NOT great, but good. Reports also indicate that the mic sounds shrill or tinny - it's no CR577, but it will do the job. In terms of build quality, the mic feels solid, with no rattling when shaking the mic and no creaking when the mic is turned on. I had a Road Devil many years ago. It was a quality microphone that has given me years of trouble free performance. When I received this microphone I was dying to try it. When I opened it and took it in my hands, it felt much lighter and more delicate than what I had before. The two halves of the "cot" were also slightly different shades of red; another bad sign. Also, the rear half of the mic had what appeared to be a black grease stain, or possibly bad red pigmentation with a dark spot…
