This little oiler makes a great oil container. This is a very simple but effective way to store butter. I like to keep mine on the counter so the butter stays soft and spreadable. Some claim that it picks up fingerprints easily. I could see how, but I didn't have this very annoying "problem". If you use the lift handle and don't lift it with dirty hands, it should NOT leave fingerprints. You can add a couple of chopsticks or a pound of cake/bricks to the bowl. Good looking, well made and holds two full packs of oil side by side. However, it has a serious design flaw! All four shell edges slope upwards and outwards at an angle of about 45 degrees. If you cut into a slice of butter (whether cold or soft), the pieces of butter will slide up the sides of the pan. Sometimes when you take it out of the fridge, the lid slips off the sides. I bought this specifically to hold 2 regular buttersticks but the bowl is only 3" wide not 4" and when you put 2 sticks in they don't fall to the bottom and then the lid squeezes the sides and the top together. Suitable for 1 normal pack of oil. So I bought 2 oilers and they are great for 1 regular stick. My wife found a narrower/longer style of butter sticks and they fit right in.
