Inexpensive tool that gets the job done

Cheap tool that gets the job done. The knob turned slightly at first, but got stuck after I pressed the first brake piston. Spraying a small amount of liquid wrench on the threads worked wonders and I was able to use it on the remaining three pistons with ease. Highly recommended, but be sure to apply some anti-seize compound to the threads before use.

Comfortable device. at Tools & Equipment

After years of fiddling with clamps to install disc brake pistons, I finally broke down and bought this tool. So far it has served me well. Just put one of the old pads on the piston, the black tool bar on the caliper and tighten. Works perfectly. It's a fairly basic tool and appears to be of high quality. The company claims their tools are for professional mechanics, so I expect them to last me a long time.

Works well! - Tools & Equipment

I used this tool to compress a piston when replacing the front pads on my 2002 Honda Accord and it worked great. I hope this tool will last for many years. A few tips for 101 brake work: 1) Use an old brake pad to compress the piston in combination with this tool. 2) Don't forget to open the master cylinder cover before squeezing and monitor the fluid level to make sure it doesn't leak. 3) Start the car and bleed the brakes after changing the pads before driving.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Volume

Really nice, maybe a clumsy clip

Picked this up as "thrown" as I still have something to do with brakes. I've always used a C-clip and never had a problem, but decided to give it a try as the clamp is a little clunky and unwieldy. It worked really fantastic. I have two pistons and one piston. both worked great. I still used my small piece of 1" x 2" 1/8" thick plank of wood to put it on top of the pistons, but you can put the pistons in without it, or even put a brake shoe in there. It seems durable too I don't know how it…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

It's worth it! fits brake tools

I service most vehicles myself and have gone to great lengths in the past to attempt to reinstall the caliper, sometimes even opening the brake lines. Rather than going through the lines later or finding an internal way to get the caliper to move, I decided to give it a try. And the man did it! I would assume other similar ones would work as well, but this one worked great and was the most economical I've seen. You may need to leave one of the pads in to create a flat surface to press on…

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Inconvenient

Special tools always make the job easier.

This makes squeezing the caliper pistons together to change pads a little easier than using C-clamps or channel locks, which I've always done in the past. Special tools always make the job easier. I've been slowly adding specialty tools to my toolbox and this is one I've had my eye on for a long time, at under $10, I couldn't refuse. This tool seems to be of decent quality and should last a while, the plastic/nylon handle feels premium and durable, this is the only part of the build I noticed…

Pros
  • Crossing my fingers
