Not a very good set.: Housewares

Should have read the review on this. The wick burns out quickly and is not long enough for a standard wine bottle. I wouldn't wear them with kids because if the bottle hits you'll get hand problems. It doesn't fit on any bottle. Do more research and find another setup.

Pros
  • Not cheap but decent
Cons
  • A little variety

Great flashlight for wine bottles!

I had the idea of turning old wine bottles into lanterns but thought it would take a while as I had to find all the parts to make a wick holder. I found them and they work great! I simply put them in a wine bottle filled with aquarium gravel and tiki torch oil (against bites) and gave them away. My sister-in-law burns them on her back porch and she loves them!

Working on wine bottles!

I actually bought these because they are shaped like wine corks and are perfect for turning my old wine bottles into little torches or lamps! I also bought a spare 2/7" wick to use with them and it works great. I have found that the previously mentioned trick of filling the bottle about 3/4 full with decorative rocks/sand/etc is a great way to save oil!

Pros
  • Special Offer
Cons
  • Weak Set

Love it! Easy to use!

Very happy with this purchase. They came quickly. I used tequila, whiskey, and a bottle of wine with Tiki fuel. They burn all day with no problems. Better candles. I used citronella fuel. They smoke a little, but no offense. I also had a smokeless oil which was perfect. No Smoking. The wick isn't long enough to reach the bottom of a tall wine bottle, but still works as long as the wick touches the fuel.

Great item for home decor

I love oil lamps but hate using nasty petroleum based oils on them. I buy cheap olive oil, fill up my wine bottles, stick them down their throats and off we go. No smoke, no bad smell and I love that olive oil has been used for lighting for centuries. I'm sure they'll work just as well with citronella or regular lamp oil, so don't be shy if you decide to use them. It was also almost half the price of other sites.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Easily repairable

USE THE HIGHEST QUALITY SMOKE-FREE OIL

THESE LAMP WICKS ARE GREAT. I HAVE USED A STEAM IN OLD ANTIQUE KARACHEN. MY DAUGHTER MADE A LAMP FROM HER FAVORITE WINE BOTTLE. IF YOU HAVE IT, YOU WILL GET INSTANT LIGHT WHEN THE POWER IS OFF, AND WITH THE EXTRA OIL YOU CAN HAVE LIGHT LONGER IN THE CRASH (WITHOUT BATTERIES GOING DOWN). MY GIRLFRIEND PUT THEM INTO EMPTY BEER BOTTLES AND GAVE 1 TO HER NEIGHBORS SO THEY COULD PREPARE. I encourage you to spend extra money on a quality smokeless oil. WORTH IT.

Pros
  • even the old can understand
Cons
  • Some little things

They work great when done right

I had problems with them at first: the wick burned almost to the end and the flame burst out. However, if you keep the bottles very full of oil, the wick will not burn out and you will end up with a large flame that any wind can handle. We used colored marble-like discs that my wife got from centerpieces or vases (I don't know where she gets these materials from, but I assume there were places for handicrafts and others). We filled the bottle a little over halfway with it and it's working great

  • Cord is shorter than others
