Bought this to use as a cutting insert in my Gemini and it worked great. If there are cuts I use a heat gun to heat it up, get rid of the marks and straighten them out.

I had a little mat like this many, many years ago. It grew old, scarred and hard. It's time for a replacement. There is a time when you cut off small pieces of a patchwork quilt. for that it works fine. Rotate the mat, not the piece of fabric, to get a more precise cut.
