Description of Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f1.8 (Black) Lens for Olympus & Panasonic Micro 4/3 Cameras - International Version (No Warranty)

Ideally suited for: Landscape, travel, nature, low-light and architecture, portrait - equivalent to a 34 mm 35 mm lens. The 17 mm wide angle with a large F1.8 f-stop is ideal for shooting in low light. Sliding focus ring allows quick change between autofocus and manual focus. The slim design and robust metal housing of the lens impresses with its compact lightness. Outstanding image quality, despite very compact design with pin-sharp images right up to the edges of the image.Ideal finish, high quality metal bayonet and ideal close-up limit for macro photography.

Disappointing lens for Panasonic cameras

My analysis of this lens showed that it produced blurry and distorted images, even at lower apertures. The autofocus also struggled to keep up with moving subjects. However, the lens did have a durable build and a sleek design.

Pros
  • Durable build, sleek design
Cons
  • Blurry and distorted images, slow autofocus

Great little lens, best in photography and photography

Great little lens, nice and fast for the M4/3 system. I use it on GH4. I found an issue that isn't a problem on the Oly 12-40 Pro with the same manual focus lock ring: the GH4 doesn't raise the focus magnifier when the manual focus ring is engaged.

Pros
  • Electronics
Cons
  • Not as thick as other models
