Beyond praise! The product definitely deserves your attention.

Wonderful lens. I shot for a very long time on the EF 28-300 mm, whoever is in the subject will understand what kind of monster it is, pulling his neck. And here, just some kind of holiday. If without emotions, then colleagues with "monsters" began to look thoughtfully in my direction. Quite a sufficient range of focal lengths and aperture is sufficient even for filming in the semi-darkness of cafes. Combined with the OM-D E-M1 MarkII, it provides all my shooting needs.

Pros
  • Yes all. Sharpness, focal length range, constant aperture, moisture resistance, build quality, stable.
Cons
  • I, taking into account the use of Olympus 12-40 / 2.8, did not like that there was only one button for attaching the hood. But these are subjective quibbles.

Rating of the previous rating

I gave this lens a bad rating and I am now exchanging it. I sent the lens back thinking it was out of focus. I was stupid and didn't read the instructions for the lens. Now that I figured it out (by calling up the really great Olympus tech help) it has a clutch that I had to use to switch from manual to auto focus. The technician sounded like he had told many buyers of this lens about the clutch. I hope this helps others who are too lazy to read their manuals. The lens is really amazing.

Amazing lens. for SLR lenses

This is a great all-round lens that doesn't have any major drawbacks when shooting with Nikon Prime and Nikon Pro lenses. Relatively small form factor, extended range, phenomenal sync image stabilization with Olympus bodies (omd em1 mark ll in my case) make it the perfect travel lens. My travel kit includes a Pan Leica 100-400 and an Olympus 17mm and 45mm, both f/1.8. Highly recommended. It can replace an Olympus 12-40 f/2.8 Pro lens if you don't mind trading the extra stop for a longer rangeโ€ฆ

Too big, heavy and expensive

This lens defeats the purpose of the people who buy the micro 4/3,,!,, I returned it. Mounted on an Olympus EM5 it looks absurdly large and too heavy to happily take photos while trying to hold the body and lens (mandatory). I found a combination of OLY pro 2.8 12-40 and OLY 40-. 155 4-5.6 is better for the camera and not heavy. Also, I found a noticeable difference between F4 and 2.8, I would have preferred to shoot at a higher shutter speed. Comparing the F4 12-100 and F2.8 12-40 2.8โ€ฆ

Yes, extra stabilization is important

The 12-100 lens replaces my longtime favorite lens, the 12-40 F/2.8 Pro, and fits my M1-2. Sometimes I miss the aperture, but for stills you get it back thanks to the extra stability. How much extra? The M1-2 IBIS already offers 5.5 stops of stability and I really didn't think the extra aperture you get with the lens would be noticeable until I accidentally turned it off and wondered why I was blurry for a long time get recordings. This absolutely makes a difference when you're trying to getโ€ฆ

Not worth the hype and money!

I read many reviews about this lens and was very excited to try it, although I was afraid of the high price. I bought this lens last month and now use it almost every day in a variety of situations, from urban architecture to nature (trying to also take advantage of its weak "macro" account), indoors and at sporting events. Everything is fine with the lens - between average and good. A good zoom range of 12 to 100 mm and additional image stabilization inside the lens are positive. However, when

My travel lens. Highly recommended.

Updated 07/08/2019 After two years of use, my impression of the lens has not changed. I've since added Oly 12-40 f/2.8. I've found that sometimes I need f/2.8. But for travel, 12-100 is still the best option. Original rating: I am a dual system user. My m4/3 system was originally designed for travel and my main system is an APS-C DSLR. Past experience has shown me that zooming with a high zoom factor is a compromise at best, so I only considered zooming with a factor of typically =<3. Inโ€ฆ
