Don't buy this rubber, very hard, pulled out in 2nd and 4th and almost pulled out in 1st and 3rd. Then the rubber on the sides came loose.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Not as fat as others

very good quality in Clutches & Parts

I use these boots to replace the backhoe control levers on my 410B. They fit of course - great quality and a perfect replacement for my sun damaged boots. I had to trim it down a bit but overall they are excellent - OEM is no longer available but I suspect they are better quality anyway.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Can't recommend a better replacement

I've seen other reviews say the rubber is too thick. You were right, it adds forward tension to the shifter enough to knock it out of gear when the transmission isn't loaded. I'm currently trying to heat the rubber to no avail and may try sanding it thinner. I will update if it works or not. Search anywhere other than Omyx Hell or the Sturdy Spine. Try JC Whitney.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not bad but...

New dust boot only pulls shifter from second gear

Bought for '84 CJ7 as old cover was cracked and exhaust was leaking into cab. This new boot pulls out the second shift knob. The tension is just enough to pull it out. Not sure if this is really a trunk issue or just a common problem on an old jeep with a worn derailleur/gearbox as it is 30 years old. I just installed it tonight so not sure if I can stretch or wear the rubber enough to fix it or if I need to buy a different brand. It's hard to say if any other brand will have the same problem.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Some trouble
