Ideal for small headphone amp

Used for mono line-to headphone amp. This part comes in two versions, a 20 gain and a 200 gain. The 200 gain version adds two capacitors and a gain feedback resistor. I only needed a gain of 20 so I just trimmed the trace from pin 1 to cut off the excess parts. All of this is well documented in every lm386 datasheet. It works great - good sound quality with low noise. More than enough for headphones.

Pros
  • Built-in 10K variable resistor, gain volume can be adjusted
Cons
  • Can't remember

It worked for my purposes

I used an amplifier to boost an electret microphone for PC input. I liked the range of the supply voltage (I used 9V, the same source as for powering the microphone). I also liked the initial configuration (I inserted a bare wire, screwed it on). I wish the input was like this. I like the red LED to indicate power. When I first tried this I thought it didn't work until I remembered the gain potentiometer; after turning everything worked. The price was much cheaper than buying the components.

Pros
  • Integrated LM386 chip. With 200x circuit design
Cons
  • No instructions

NOT WORKING

So far 6 out of 10 are not working at all (don't know if I'll waste time on the other 4). Before you say I must be doing something wrong; I took all the external components (speakers, microphone and power supply) from a similar product that worked fine and plugged them into this board and NOTHING. The board is clearly labeled so there are no wrong connections on it. save your money I found something on eBay that works great (DC 5V-12V Micro Electret Amplifier MIC Condenser Mini Microphone…

Pros
  • On board speaker wire holder
Cons
  • is not reliable
