OP/TECH USA Battery Holster: Compact SLR Battery and AA Batteries Case Review

I have a spare battery without a cover, so I put the battery inside to prevent accidentally touching the metal connectors without the cover. It's actually a pretty good and flexible case not only for the battery but also for other little things. Unless you need to carry multiple batteries for outdoor photography, it is recommended.

I love OpTech products. but I think they missed the mark. Batteries for my a6500 fit in there perfectly. However, the way it "attaches" to the strap just doesn't work. It also gives the impression of being built backwards as the valve closes inwards rather than outwards. This can be extra protection to keep the batteries from flying out. A bit impractical and seems like I installed it wrong all along. OpTech can do much better than that.

Holds 1 W126S battery well. If you try to hold two, as one reviewer suggested, it gets pretty tight and you'll need to use a strap/strap holder for that purpose. The waist belt/holder is not very convenient to use as it is firmly attached with velcro. I find the fact that the flap closes on the same side as the belt/belt holder uncomfortable to say the least. I don't think the battery will fall out if the lid is closed the other way around, the velcro keeps it closed tightly.

This bag was easy to attach to my camera strap. It's designed to fit over the end of the strap instead of connecting with a fold and snap. This should help keep the holster from coming loose unless the strap detaches from the camera or breaks. In that case, you have a much bigger problem than trying to figure out where your battery has gone. Holds the battery as intended. However, if I had known the design better, I probably wouldn't have bought it. You need to thread it through the Velcro on the back. Well sized case that holds the battery securely in place. My EN-EL23 battery (for Nikon P610) fits in perfectly. Unfortunately, that's all good I can say about this holster. It is not fully closed, which can cause problems in a humid environment. Worse, it's ONLY for use on camera straps, and even those are difficult to put on. The holster easily accommodates a Nikon EN-EL23 (Coolpix P900) battery and still has space. It also fits the Nikon EN-EL3e battery, which is much thicker. I like the fact that the holster flap is attached with Velcro and folds over the back. The camera strap is routed over the flip cover for added security while the flip cover remains closed. As a suggestion, it could be a little larger to make the battery removal and insertion even smoother. Although it claims to fit thin wearers, it actually isn't. The bag (no battery inside) likes to slide over the strap, which can be annoying. The velcro used for the belt loop doesn't actually hold the bag to the belt, but can snag on edge seam belts (on belts that don't slip) and damage the seams.
