At first the sound was not very good

Delivery was fast and on time. My purchase was for audio output from my Roku stick over HDMI. At first the sound wasn't very good. I unplugged the power from the Orei device and the sound has improved. The Roku stick powered the Orei device. This has been working fine for three weeks now.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Empty

Power adapter not included (USB cable only)

I only bought this model because the description said "It comes with a universal 5V DC power adapter as power source supplied. it is not. Instead, it comes with a very short USB cable. So to use it with my ChromeCast I have to buy a separate power adapter. Disappointing!

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Didn't work for my purposes

I changed my rating to positive as I did further research and found that the EDID received from my computer is correct and contains all audio information, that I need. Windows 10 and/or the Nvidia drivers are to blame for not recognizing this sound information and instead deactivating it. So the product works and is surprisingly compact.

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Not working - Wrong colors

Used to connect Roku and Apple TV to monitor. The colors on the display were wrong for this field in the row. Looks like there wasn't any blue in the picture. I have tried this with mains power and external power supply. There were no changes. Also note that this device did NOT come with an AC adapter. It comes with a USB cable only and you need to provide your own power supply.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was something

Works as advertised.

It is very easy to use and works every time I use it. It works both passively and actively. A little delay on the HDMI side, but it's not a DA. It's an audio extractor and it does the job perfectly. Features a headphone jack for audio distribution and selectable EDID between 2.0, 5.0 and standard TV EDID. I've used this in the field as a video engineer and haven't had any issues with it so far.

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • there are errors

Looks more like other Orei products

Case color is different from the picture. More like other Orei products. There is no noticeable increase in noise. Although I have an HDMI switch that doubles as an audio extractor, that's why I use it. It doesn't seem to heat up at all, so heat won't cause premature death. No issues with the HDMI signal that I can detect. So far I have only used the audio output of the headphone jack. I have no experience with optical output (spdif toslink).

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
