We bought these for our Neso case to use on the Florida Gulf Coast beaches. No, nada, useless and empty on the sand. These came out no matter what we did screw, hammer, screw, hammer and fill with sand. Might be good for dirt or if you drop a few rocks on them. I would like to add that it was a windy day and the tent was constantly being ripped off the beach preventing me from napping.

These things caught easily in the beach sand and held tight. The canopy would have torn before they got out of the ground. I used them this weekend at a typical Ocala campground to secure my RV awning. The screw grabbed the bottom and screwed in perfectly, like a butt. I can say that it was a good and reliable grip.
