God it was great. First cross-country hike a few months ago. Between national parks and commercial campgrounds (you know what I mean), we had to adapt to sandy soil and strong winds. Putting up the tent in stormy rain on the first night proved its worth. The ground was hard as stone, but they screwed in well. Later on in the drive, in 40mph winds, they screwed in like butter and kept the tent stable. Unlike the hiker on the next lot, whose tent sped across the prairie almost faster than the pursuer could run. The length was good. I thought I might want more of this, but that was enough. Sometimes a little longer than necessary. We didn't use them to secure a beach umbrella but I think they will work for that as well. I'm glad I stumbled across these.
