Very good radios only

I have to agree with Jeff S. My radio's battery compartment needs to be sealed with tape. And you should have a guide on how to set it up. It's only worth buying if you can get it for well under the MSRP, or even better, for free.

Pros
  • Excellent design
Cons
  • Something different

Unusable Radio: Shortwave Radios

Mine stopped working a few days after purchase. Part of the radio only works for 3-4 seconds before the volume drops to zero. I've been trying to contact Oregon Scientific regarding the warranty for over 3 weeks - no one answers calls and emails go unanswered (not returned as undeliverable, just unanswered). I will never buy anything from Oregon Scientific again.

Pros
  • Stable Test Results
Cons
  • New Competitors Appeared

Good but better/cheaper versions

Very useful but not with the same technology as newer versions. It's difficult to find the right channel for your region unless there's an announcement. My battery cover broke because a fairly small plastic tab broke off. The user interface is not intuitive (setting channels and time is not easy without a user manual).

Pros
  • Not only usable for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Can do damage

Product cheaply made, customer service was terrible from Elmosworld

I bought 2 of these items, one of them has the LCD not working properly (0 as part of 12:00) Line 0 on the display is missing - see pic mine submitted photos), but it doesn't matter - the item still works fine. Another product arrived damaged as it has a cheap plastic battery door on the bottom of the device and UPS damaged it during shipping. I had to file a complaint with Revain only to get a response from this company and the situation is still unresolved. They didn't offer me a free returns

Pros
  • Finally bought
Cons
  • Factor Set

Great weather radio

I used it again today and bought it in 2001. The buttons wear out a bit, but I can still receive the stations. I use it when we travel to the US. One day we were driving from Seattle to Tampa, and as we drove through South Dakota, I heard squeaking and talking coming from the glove box. When my wife checked, the radio accidentally went on standby and it warned us that there was a tornado in the area. He warned us that he had landed in a certain precinct and just as he said we passed a sign…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Almost everything there

Does a job well

I bought this unit many years ago and it still works. I've used it on several long-distance self-guided bike rides (where I carry all my stuff on the bike myself). This is a great cycling safety accessory to warn of tornadoes and other adverse weather conditions. Most recently, I brought him out of retirement for a special occasion. The battery contacts were intermittent until I wiped them with cotton swabs and alcohol, but they're fine now. This unit does not receive AM or FM broadcasts, only…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Vulgarity
