Poor engineering and supervision

For clarity. I love ospreys. However, this version of Tropos has poor design and planning. I have 2 earlier versions of Tropos. (blue and black). I ordered and received my first one. Shortly after receiving it I noticed that the bag didn't want to stand upright on the stand. Sent back for exchange. Same question about exchange. I contacted Osprey and their response was that you appear to have received some of the few reported to have done so. Bla bla bla. Things need to stretch and blah blahโ€ฆ

Pros
  • AirSpeed hanging mesh back panel for ventilation and easy carrying
Cons
  • Has been damaged

Too intense for work/study

I'm a big fan of Osprey bags. While the Osprey Tropos is a great backpack, it's just not for me. This backpack has a volume of 32L but looks and feels MUCH bigger which could be good depending on your needs. I have a 32 liter JanSport bag and the Osprey Tropos are significantly larger in height, width and depth. I'm about 5ft 10" tall and when I put the Tropos on it looked huge (more like a backpack than a work/school bag). I was looking for something to take to the office and fill with theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • double stretch mesh water bottle pockets and flashlight loop (light not included)
Cons
  • fading light

Great Day Pack - Computers & Accessories

It can be small or quite large due to the compression straps. I was able to pack for three days without much effort and there was still room in the main compartment. If I tried, I bet I could get together in five days. The backpack is comfortable to carry, but it is definitely a day pack. The hip belt isn't nearly as supportive as, say, the Osprey Kestrel, but it keeps movement to a minimum. The chest strap works well. I have octopus blue. The color is much lighter than it appears in the photo.

Pros
  • Front organizer pocket with key clip
Cons

First time buying an Osprey - impressed so far

I was hesitant to spend that much on a backpack but I'm glad I did. I currently use it for school and business so my file folders and iPad keep going in and out of it. This is my rating after two weeks of daily use. Key Features: 3 Main Compartments 2 Quick Access Pockets 2 Sets of External Tension Straps Chest and Waste Strap Adjustable Arm Straps Waterproof Standing Organization - There are three main compartments and two quick access pockets. Front pocket organization is appreciatedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Vertical stretch zip front pocket and scratch resistant heat embossed welt pocket
Cons
  • Some small things

10/10 would buy again

I've only had this for about 2 weeks and I use it to take my stuff to work (driving to work, no walk to work New York). But so far so good. Paid about $115 for it. TL, DR; standing is good. Mesh back, like a table chair, with a gap to a solid back - that's good. Well done with attention to detail. Enough extra organization without getting in the way. Holds a ton but shrinks nicely with compression straps. The mesh back was the main reason I chose this model. I sweat a lot. The grille is evenโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Integrated footrest to keep your backpack upright and accessible
Cons
  • Modern
