Works very well in maintaining a controlled water temperature for a period of time. I tried several other hobs before finding this one. I'm a fiber artist and I dye wool and silk so I have to heat water to a temperature and hold it there (not boil) for as long as the fiber or yarn needs to absorb the dye. It meets all requirements.

I've had it for about three months. It works great and have never had any problems with it. Of course I only had to buy special pots, 12 pieces cost about $100. I've held it for more than 5 hours and it hasn't overheated. If you leave it on and don't find a pot or pan on it, it will turn off. It heats up really fast. I don't have to wait long for it to warm up. I cook on it every day and about 2-3 times a day.

So 2-1/2 years have passed since the purchase of the BG61B. It has never failed, use it daily - I would estimate 2500 times (about 3 times a day). In the kitchen, on a hike, in the backyard, or in the garage, it never made an impression - we really like this device. You can make pancakes in the morning, pasta sauce in the afternoon, take the roast outside before slow frying - it's light, powerful and reliable. I'm just curious why the double version has a much higher price.

Don't use my electric stove anymore, it has become a work surface in my small kitchen. Very safe (read older couple who sometimes forget we are cooking).
