You get what you pay for

It's not a bad thing when you need to scan a couple, but it's very slow and the resolution isn't very good. If you need it for your family photos, this could be a good product, but you have to keep in mind that it will take a lot of time. If I could I would try to get it with auto feed.

Pros
  • 35mm film scanner
Cons
  • Hard to say

Broken lamp - slide and negative scanner

I had the same problem with mine. I had a lamp failure with very few hours on the unit (about 15 hours). I lost my proof of purchase so I couldn't get help. I would give this device 5 stars because when it worked it was a great tool. Wish the lamp life was better.

Pros
  • 36 bit color depth
Cons
  • Doubtful

PF 1800U USB film scanner

This good value 35mm film scanner is exactly what I need. I have a large collection of 35mm slides shot in Korea and Vietnam; This scanner allows me to turn them into digital images on my computer and then print them out, mail them, or share them with others. It has excellent preview function and adjustable quality function. Great buy for the money.

Pros
  • USB interface compatible with PC and Mac
Cons
  • Good but not great

Cannot be used with Windows 8 or 10.

The scanner arrived quickly and in good condition. I was thrilled to connect it. I downloaded the software CD that came with it and connected the scanner to my computer. and tries to scan the slide. The message states that the scanner was not found. Finally I called Pacific Image's technical department and a very nice young man helped me. I learned from him that the company stopped producing this scanner in 2008. It is not compatible and does not work with Windows 8 or Windows 10. The software…

It's as bad as other reviewers pointed out back in 2003

It's just as bad as other reviewers pointed out in 2003. Mine works fine but the resolution is worse than your kid's barbie camera. If you have asked Kmart to take prints when developing the film, scan these paper prints with a flatbed scanner to get better digital images than you can get with it. Buy something else. If you are determined to move on - the latest 2013 edition "TWAIN". The software SF_ENG_1.3.exe is available from scanace.com (manufacturer). This will make the scanner visible to…
