I had plastic versions of these jars but quickly threw them out as soon as I got these. I've always had issues with food in plastic containers and am always looking for inexpensive glass alternatives. I actually thought they were smaller, but I was pleasantly surprised at the capacity. I plan to buy more to get rid of more plastic!

In my opinion it wasn't cheap. I put one on the windowsill to root an avocado seed and the glass cracked. We kept hearing what we thought was a rock or a bird flying in through our window. When I got up in the morning, water flowed from a crack in the jug all over the window sill. It was room temperature in autumn and it cracked. I still have one, but I dare not use it. Very disappointed.

One of the two lenses arrived with a large visible lens defect (wrinkle or bubble). The glass cracked at this point after the first use. There was no impact on the bank. Just a vulnerability that failed in normal use. Edited: The company responded quickly and sent a new can that has held up to regular use. I am very happy with the purchase.

I've used these tins once, everyone washed them both when I got them and one of them broke on the second wash. I was so careful not to use hot water, just lukewarm and I barely tapped it on the sink and it broke. The other used it a second time and washed it a third time, I have no idea what happened but it dried out and I wanted to use it to brew a new batch and it broke. I got the typical email asking how I like the product and I politely replied that the lenses were fine but the straps were too big and unusable and the fabric a bit small and be stiff. I got a reply saying "Sorry the bands didn't fit perfectly" and the reply email was deleted. The tapes weren't "not perfect", they were too big and couldn't be used. It's hard to believe a jar is something anyone would be interested in, but I've recently started fermenting and gotten a pretty good bug bite. So I managed to acquire quite a nice collection of glasses and bottles in a very short time. They are just perfect for the gallon size with plastic screw caps.
