Demo video with this lens. Ideal for real estate photographers.

Amazing lens for real estate photography. This video has not been color corrected. It's as raw as it gets, minus the compression and text of course. I shoot on the GH5 with Rode Videomic. Hope that helps! I haven't seen many reviews with actual videos of using this lens.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Doubtful

Smartest Choice on UWA

After months of torment, I gritted my teeth and bought one to replace the 4/3 9-18. Overall this is a better product than the old 4/3 UWA. Assembly and AF are two immediate improvements. In terms of IQ, the difference between the two is negligible. However, the edge quality is significantly better with this PL 8-18. CA is another improvement, although the old 4/3 should be fine. I skipped the Oly 7-14 because it's too big, expensive, and doesn't need a filter. I didn't consider the m4/3 9-18…

Great ultra wide angle lens, but not suitable for low light.

This is a great lens with the perfect weight to balance with a stabilizer. In true Leica fashion, it is sharp at all focal lengths. However, what kills me is the variable aperture. The Olympus 7-14 maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture despite the lack of a long-range zoom. This is mainly a weakness when shooting in low light, which I do regularly, which is why I ended up switching this lens to a different solution. Glare from point lights on the screen, especially under LED DJ/concert lighting…

Excellent straight-line wide angle lens for video and photography

This lens is excellent for video and real estate photography with my GH5 camera. The picture is sharp and clear. The autofocus does not wander and focuses very quickly with smooth movements. I've also used this lens for close-ups of mushrooms and other small flowers and plants. This lens is also a great lens for vloggers as it offers a short focal length while still allowing the background to show through. This lens was worth every penny and has become my favorite lens. The best thing about…

DIVINE LENS! Leica and Panasonic BEAST

Ultra wide angle up to 36mm equiv (18mm) makes everything much easier. I used to shoot exclusively with fast primes, so I gravitated towards the 12mm f/1.4 Panaleica, but this kid came along and I pulled the trigger on the purchase. Haven't regretted a single moment. As well as a heavier and chunkier design that's easy to get used to, this lens offers a wide variety of perspectives with adequate light and image quality delivered by Leica design and Japanese engineering. Be sure to try this lens

Amazing wide angle zoom

Panasonic GH5 users need this lens. It's slightly larger than the stock Panasonic Leica 12-60mm, but this lens is no less practical. This is my favorite lens for all stabilized work. The front element doesn't pop out when zooming, which means I don't have to adjust the gimbal balance whether it's 8mm or 18mm. An added bonus for videographers and landscape photographers is the non-protruding front face which allows for 67mm filters - THIS IS HUGE! The lens itself is well built, with sleek zoom…

Great lens. IMHO, Ultimate m43 UWA lens.

Great lens so far. Bought as a replacement for my Olympus 7-14/2.8. The Olympus 7-14/2.8 is a great lens, but I found it more useful for serious work than walking. It was big and heavy (by m43 standards), didn't take regular filters and the adapter for 100mm square filters was decent but required careful handling. Finally, the bulging front element has always worried me that I might bump something with it. PanaLeica fixes pretty much everything I didn't like about the Olympus lens - it's…

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

1. Background: I know the Olympus m43 line and some Panasonic lenses pretty good . line (i.e. I have Olympus 12-40mm, 12-100mm, 40-150mm, Panasonic 12-35mm, 35-100mm etc and I have quite a few more but you get it). I also forgot to mention that I tested the Olympus 7-14mm and the Panasonic.2 version. On the other hand I was unimpressed by the latest Panasonic/Leica 12-60mm and their super telephoto lenses (100-400mm) and therefore had my doubts about the quality of this lens. I readily admit…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Vulgarity
