Extra wire is grounded. Simply crimp the loop and ground the stud. On the passenger side, I couldn't use the existing bolts because I couldn't raise my hand to tighten the nuts. So I used self tapping screws, pulled a ground wire to the light and grounded it with a crimp screw loop. You will also need to drill existing holes. Very easy installation. And they look great.

As you can see from my photo, the studs are pre-installed in the taillights. The taillight is completely sealed making it impossible to get inside to screw the studs into the back of the jeep. . Once that's done and the lens is in place, the screws to place the lens back onto our back of the taillight and there is only about an inch of room making it impossible to put a screwdriver in there to get the tighten the lens again. I had to remove the three pronged bracket to install mine because I couldn't get to the back to install the nuts and I didn't want to tap out the threads in the tub to get them through. As others have said you will need to drill the original bolt holes on your Jeep as they are slightly larger.
