Black Pearl IZUMi Softshell Jacket Review

I've been riding for many years and still feel like I'm locked inside on a trained bike during the winter. This softshell is perfect for me. It's warm, windproof and flexible enough to be comfortable in the saddle. They work on the small side; I'm 5ft 9in, 170lbs and I usually wear Med in Pearl Izumi but I got this in a large size and it fits like a glove. Too bad, but I believe that PI has discontinued this softshell.

This jacket was worn in minus 5C with a thin base layer underneath. It was nice and warm even though I was exercising at a moderate intensity. Have also used it without the primaloft inner jacket near zero and at high intensity and seems to breathe very well.

Ideal for mountain biking, hiking in the wilderness when it's snowing, or snowboarding or skiing when the weather isn't too extreme.

This jacket looks great and is very warm. This is a two layer jacket which is great as the shell is great for 50-55 Fahrenheit weather. You can throw on a tank top to keep warm. I think it fits great too. I am medium to large for Castelli gear and the M size fits me perfectly. I actually ordered a large which I had to return due to a different sizing rating. Used together, the outer and inner shell provide comfortable warmth without restricting your movements. I wear these clothes fall/spring/winter in the 30s-50s. Very happy with all PI products but especially PRO.

Amazing jacket, I use both the inner and outer jacket separately or together when biking and skiing in cold Breckenridge, Colorado. The best balaclava I've ever had.

I sent back the first jacket I received as it didn't come with the lining and baklava. The second is perfect. You can choose one size larger because it is snug. Good workmanship, two chest pockets and a wide back pocket. The liner is quickly removed. I hope to use it in March and April when cold mornings make driving less comfortable. Keeps me warm when I ride in the mountains. Excellent material, comfortable, does not hinder movement. When I drove the other day it was 20 degrees outside, the wind was 16 km/h and I never felt unwell.
