Satisfactory product quality, good price.

I advise you to take it as a whale (then it is generally cheap), especially when you first buy a DSLR. It is practically not inferior in performance to mid-range zooms (16-45, for example (there is a topic for comparing these glasses in a pentaclub)) at a price that is two times lower, and it is not comparable at all with zooms of the upper price category. So, with limited finances and at the first purchase, there is no particular alternative. Of particular interest are the latest waterproof…

Pros
  • At a wide angle, soapy at the edges, but everything is relative, plus geometric distortions. At 35mm it's quite good, including sharpness. Light. Good pseudo-macro, allows you to shoot small objects. The front lens does not rotate (you can use a polarizer), it easily switches to manual focusing. One of the best whales in all mirror optics systems (according to most photo sites). (Review for the second version of the lens).
Cons
  • Of course, it is inferior to more expensive lenses, especially fixes, but at the eighth aperture, the difference is practically not visible.

Great product, best quality.

Aperture - a disadvantage? Yes, increase the ISO to 400 - 800 and the problems are solved! On K-5 with this lens, I shot a seascape with a quality of 3 stars. Without any photoshop, I took a photo of 30 by 45: the quality is fabulous. And the soul required tests, and then the professional laboratory took the same photo sized 50 by 70. And the quality is super again! For a long time he cursed himself, because I bought 16-50 / 2.8 the day before receiving the photo (oh, and a heavy bastard!). And

Pros
  • Price, light weight and Pentax quality. Amazing for travel.
Cons
  • Aperture.

A very high-quality product, I take it not for the first time.

It is sharpest at the following apertures: at 18 mm - from F / 5.6 to F11, but a little sharper at F / 8; at 24 mm - from F / 8 to F / 11; at 35 mm from F / 5.6 to F11, at F8 - excellent; 55 mm is not bad from F / 8 to F / 11. In general, the sharpness and contrast in the pictures very much depends on the weather conditions, the state of the air, if it rained, the wind blew away the smog, the sky is clear, there are separate whitest clouds in the bright blue sky, and even a day off, never be…

Pros
  • A very good, almost universal lens. There is a hood, there is a distance scale (which competitors no longer do for their whale lenses), which may be needed when landscape shooting to calculate hyperfocal distances, so that everything is in sharpness.
Cons
  • Hard to find for its class.

In general, it's pretty good, an equal number of pros and cons.

Standard inexpensive staffer, often whale. For the beginner photographer. Later, they will begin to annoy HA at the edges, there will not be enough aperture. The optical scheme is the simplest. The contrast is good, and the quality of Pentax is, as always, on the level. But I advise you to look instead Tamron 17-50 2.8 Pentax 16-45 4 Pentax 18-250 3.5-6.3 Pentax 17-70 4

Pros
  • Price Quality
Cons
  • HA

Great pentax kit lens and great value!

Excellent kit lens, one of the best in its class in build quality and image quality. The best lens for your money, especially if you're using one that's under fifty bucks.

The description did not reflect what I received -

which was good. The listing said DA-L (cheaper unit with plastic bracket) but I got the standard DA (metal bracket). Needless to say I wasn't upset. So far so good as far as the product itself goes, this is a kit lens, quite suitable for general photography. It's not Limited Prime, and it doesn't claim to be.

Pros
  • Multiple competitors
Cons
  • unreliable
