When I bought a cheap steel tap I should have known better, but it goes without saying that neither the tap nor the bit will work in heat treated steel. I tried using this to drill and tap the ak47's rear pivot but ended up having to go the other way. I'm sure this works for polymer/acrylic and aluminum, but if you're trying to cut steel go the other way.
It not only drills holes but waits to cut into them, it's the right drill bit that drills and a Tap that cuts a hole 8.8mm drill bits couldn't be found anywhere else so $10 for a bit I needed 1 time and has no other use in the universe just a good buy cuz I set my machine that way could that she deceives the engine light
I would give 0 stars if this option was available. I used a drill to drill a 1/4" diameter hole in mild steel. The drill was sharp and drilled a hole. However, the tap immediately began to fill with removed metal and the cutting edges of the tap quickly snapped or wore wear off. I don't know if the drill will continue to work on more than one hole but I doubt it. The tool is made in China and is worse than a waste of time and money. I recommend everyone not to buy anything from Performanceβ¦
