PERRIN License Plate Relocation Kit: Subaru WRX / STI 2018-2020, BRZ 2013-2020, Scion FRS 2013-2016, Toyota GT 86 2017-2020 Review

Good kit, lots of mounting options, well made, no loosening or misalignment after a long time beating up the car. Too many Perrin labels and stickers for my liking, but oh well. (Can't imagine showing my license plate holder.) *Nice* all good BRZ's, FR-S, '86's seem to have this Perrin front number holder. It's either that or bore the machine out with a factory kit, which scares me.

I couldn't install it on a 2018 WRX. The stem fits perfectly into the bumper. The screw that went into the stem to secure the plate mount seemed too long. I couldn't get a tight fit even after installing all the shims from the kit. I used a torque wrench and couldn't turn it any further. I was on the verge of equipment failure or machine damage. This may be my fault and user error, but I couldn't figure out my mistakes if I made them. Although the overall design all looked fine.

I didn't want to bore out my BRZ with the stock front license plate bracket. I saw this on two beautiful BRZs in Oregon and checked it out. $81 is a lot for a holder, but I got it a little cheaper at Revain. This is a good attitude. the workmanship of the parts is top notch, the instructions are good and easy to follow, the installation takes about 15 minutes and ANYONE can do it. In general it looks pretty good. You can use decals, a Perrin license plate holder, or simply attach a license…

Perfect fit as expected from Perrin. Absolutely beautiful anodized and wrinkle powder coated finish. Excellent guide. An installation tip to protect the spot where you need to attach the key: Wrap tape around the hex shank. This protects it from scratches. I used Kapton tape because it's thin and strong. Probably 10 layers. Any tape will do. You can also grind down the sharp edges of your wrench or find a suitable wrench for AN fittings. Just an OCD thing: I wish Perrin had a better solution…
