Excellent lightweight version

These are NOT ice climbing crampons. They are excellent for voyages on glaciers and temperate ice (AI3). The light aspect is fantastic, the binding/adjustment suits the shoe very well. I highly recommend this product, but you must understand the limitations of the design.

These are the lightest crampons you can get. I have used them all winter and without modification they are only good for flat glacier riding and short term use. The problem is that the ropes rub against the aluminum and cut through the rope. This happened about an hour after my first ascent in the White Mountains, the steep terrain was too tough for these cats. I used a spare set of crampons to complete the route and when I got home I dug into the problem and the fix allowed me to use them…

Nice and light but the aluminum spikes wear out quickly

I bought these for my flexible shoes (sneaker boots) because the heel of my classic BD Contact Crampon was too narrow for a good fit (climbing shoes usually have narrow heels) and I'm concerned about the center bar (they have laces). One problem is that aluminum wears out quickly, and that's not theoretical.
