Clear Peugeot Nancy Salt Mill, 12 Inches Review

I'm not as happy with this grinder as I thought I would be. I can't get a fine grind with it. It was filled with coarse salt that might have hardened. I didn't really need the salt, so I might need to clean it, fill it with higher quality salt, and then adjust the grind size.

I have had the same model pepper mill for about 10 years. In the end I decided I needed a real salt mill. I was a bit surprised that after all this time I could still find the same model and size pepper mill. The pepper grinder has worked fine all along and the new salt grinder seems to be of the same quality so I don't expect any problems. High quality and functionality.

The grinder is heavy and looks very nice, big piece of acrylic, the actual grinder is metal so should last a long time. It works fine but nothing special. I didn't notice any significant difference in grind size when using the coarse or fine setting. It should be noted that it doesn't hold up very well as most of the grinder is made out of hard acrylic with a tube in the middle for the salt.

This brand is top notch. Although expensive, I'm used to sorting out salt and pepper shakers about twice a year. So that's a lifeline. I expect it to last forever, like my pepper shaker from the same company. I first met a Puegot in Italy at a restaurant. My husband and I picked up the marker immediately after grinding our meal with a pepper grinder. These things are strong and so smooth. Really good quality.

This small salt mill is made in France by Peugeot and is very well made. Yes, the design is old, but it works pretty well. Having used this grinder for more than three years we have had no complaints. The grinder looks nice and is well finished with an eye on aesthetics and ergonomics. The controls are simple but functional (you unscrew the lid for a finer grind) and the materials used are of the highest quality - acrylic is durable and doesn't smell smoky on arrival.

I have had a Peugeot acrylic pepper mill for years. Love it. I finally decided to buy a matching salt shaker. However, this model only grinds fine salt flakes. I tried a mortar and pestle to make the rock salt more convenient (it's already a small pebble size). The salt shaker does not grind the salt. I tried peppercorns. It doesn't work with pepper either. My pepper mill works great with rock salt. I wonder if I have a full butt as even the salt flakes it came with didn't dissolve very well…

This item seems to work with the salt it contains - it's not very coarse. But as another reviewer mentioned (I should have read that first!) it doesn't work on Pink Himalyan. The product instructions that come packaged with the product but aren't mentioned online list many things, including pink salt, that it shouldn't be used with.
