Great pear but wrong size

Great pear but too big for my needs. This was a Revain suggested replacement bulb for the one used when installing the garage door opener (blown out) but when trying to find a replacement I found that I could no longer close the light on this garage door opener. The difference in length is estimated at 3.75 and 4.4 inches. Judging by some of the not-so-great reviews of the previous lamp I might be safer with this one but wanted to warn others about the size difference as it makes a difference…

Let the lights grow! - Bulbs

I use three of these on a west window for a small table full of plants that overwinter indoors. I keep my succulents about 8 inches from the bulbs, and everything else (pothos, peace lily, spider plant, coleus, nothing special) is about a few feet away. The amount of light is perfect. Everything remained compact and lush, and there was a slight stretch upwards towards the bulbs rather than the window. I also prefer bright white light over the red/purple color of most grow lights. I honestly…

Good lamps for growing plants

I use these lamps for growing plants. I can say they work because my Aloe Jet has grown huge since I bought it and tends to grow towards the light. I bought them about a year ago and haven't had to change my first lightbulb yet. I leave the light on almost 20 hours a day so I'm really impressed with how long it lasts. It's also worth noting that they get pretty hot. It's not actually hot enough to start a fire or pose a safety hazard, but if you're using it on plants, be careful not to touch…

Cool, very blue light output

I bought Philips bulbs because of their low price of $12.97 for 4 packs (with free shipping) compared to the 1800 lumen, 5500K BlueMax CFL bulbs I used, which cost $10. each plus shipping. I was surprised at how much more blue they put out compared to the BlueMax bulbs when they were first turned on. However, the brightness appears to be about the same. After running for about 30 minutes, I noticed that the Philips bulbs turned a natural blue color, more like sunlight, and got brighter. That's…

Gorgeous daylight color, same size as incandescent

Some people don't like the 6500k "Daylight" color temperature, but that's EXACTLY what I wanted in my shop. They donate a pleasant, even, bright light. They start at a little less than full brightness, maybe 90%, and gradually reach 100% in about 30-45 seconds. I originally bought Cree 5000k 100W (19W) LED bulbs. Light output and color comparable to these 23W CFL bulbs. The LEDs turn on 100% instantly, last 2.5 times longer, use slightly less power and cost just over four times as much…

I use them as grow lights, they love it!

They were recommended by the succulent blog for grow lights so I bought them about a month ago. They give off a nice white light and are quite bright. My succulents especially love them! They definitely didn't get enough light into my window, but these lights helped a lot! I'm starting to see lots of new growth and they look nice and healthy. Some of my smaller ones have even turned a beautiful purple color that is starting to show. What's really nice is that they come in a pack of four so if…

Great strong light that lasts forever.

I use them as plant lighting in my aquariums. I have very delicate and exotic species that need good bright light. I need a very intense light source that can penetrate all the water and still provide enough energy to keep the plants on the ground. I've been using Philips T2 Twister for a while and get great results. I used to use 13w Twister bulbs (60w equivalent) but now I'm using these 23w bulbs which are twice as bright. I run them on timers for 8 hours every day, and in the last year and a
