I love these lamps

Now I have 9 white Hue bulbs. Colored ones aren't worth the extra cost to me. I have them in all the lamps in my house for a reason. NO ONE TURNS THE LIGHTS OFF IN MY HOUSE! So now I can take care of them whether they are home or not and knowing everyone is in bed or at school I turn everything off so they don't stay on all day. I have two remotes, one for my bedroom and one for the laundry room. The pull chain in the laundry room keeps breaking, I've changed this outlet 3 times in 3 years. I…

Pros
  • Hue Bridge required (sold separately) to fully utilize Hue, these lamps fit standard sized table lamps.
Cons
  • Big and chunky

I can use my fire remote to search and get the right results 80% of the time (which sucks compared to Siri which is never wrong), this point comes back. It's almost hilarious in the weirdest interpretations…

5 star quality but some flaws

I really like Philips Hue White Smart Bulbs and would theoretically like to give them 5 stars. However, there is an unfortunate flaw at work. There are two different versions of this bulb - the 1st generation bulb (any bulb with a flat top is probably 1st generation) and the 2nd generation bulb. The 2nd generation lamp is almost perfect - it is much better regulated and gets brighter at maximum (840 lumens instead of 6xx lumens). It also consumes a maximum of 0.5W more power. They're easy to…
