Pilot Automotive MI 004 Night Mirror Review

This worked great on the initial install. That being said, two weeks after installation I had to move it towards me from my wife's perspective and it became flexible and didn't stay in place. It stayed on the windshield mount, but the hinges didn't hold it in place. I wrote to Revain but never got a reply so I'm going to return it and buy another one, from a different manufacturer.

It was so easy to install as you can see in the photo that I had to do it with my phone's flashlight at night, but I still managed to do it in less than 2 minutes. DO NOT tear off the old mirror, unscrew it and leave the metal base plate attached to the window, simply remove the mirror itself. Then simply unscrew and remove the plate from the new mirror, then over the old (still attached to the window) plate slide and screw. No glue or silicone required.

This mirror looks like a solid unit with good build quality but before I even tightened it the mirror was dangling more than the mirror it replaced. The part that connects the adjustment lever to the mirror housing is not rigidly attached to the mirror and moves with little to no pressure. The vibrations of the engine alone caused the mirror to move down. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE!

So my other mirror was broken and I glued the mirror backing crooked and it was just bad so I ordered a new 8" and how As you can see it's smaller than my old one because I think one was 10" but I don't mind. This mirror comes with a mounting plate already! I already had one so loosen the screw, remove that Plate and put the mirror on then tighten the screw which is easy if anyone complained in the comments that this is difficult then they are dumb lol.

Great replacement Miata. Ease of installation. The hardest part was removing the original mirror. This is very hard. You really need a long, small screwdriver to press the button. After several attempts and many curses, he finally withdrew. Otherwise nothing was broken. The only negative thing I would say about this mirror is that it seems to vibrate a lot. I think you get used to that. Your brain averages a shaky rear view image, but still. Not sure where or what isn't attached, but it's not…

I read the reviews before buying and while many said you need to buy some kind of glue to attach it to the windshield, one reviewer said you could use the old rearview mirror -Use mounting plate unscrew the new mirror mount and remove the small metal plate (see image) and then simply slide the new mirror onto the existing mount plate already glued to the windshield and then tighten the screw. I did it, it was easy, it only took a few minutes to remove the old mirror and install this one…

Probably "fur" for the money. It's cheap in price and cheap in build quality so I don't know what I was really expecting. My goal was to mount the DVR with this as my factory mirror is already 12" wide and I need to move the DVR to clear the camera. Unfortunately that wasn't a solution. As I sat in the driveway I thought that was great! But even at 40 km/h the thing wobbles so much that it's disgusting to look at. The ball and seat aren't exactly a problem. and decent quality.
