Planet Bike Superflash rear light (and available headlight) is battery operated, which seems rare for bike lights these days. I have one of these lights. I like that it runs on batteries and the run time is very long on a single set of batteries. There are also options for mounting on the seat post and with a clip on the saddlebag (or bag on the trunk). Update: I've had five of these (for my six bikes) and have lost four of them in the last 3 years or so. One went over a rough RR intersection, the lights went out, skidded across the road and straight into the storm sewer - definitely unlucky. The other three are a big disappointment.
