I used this chain along with some control hooks to hang a tray as a shelf next to my bed. Holds up very well! I thought it would barely hold my alarm clock (it's a big, heavy sunrise simulator), but it does a great job with my 20-pound cat, too. I would not recommend buying this chain considering the weight, it clearly isn't made for that - it was very easy to cut through with cuticle nippers when I cut it to the right length for my shelf. . We used this chain in place of a downspout for the gutter on our Seattle porch. We got this idea from Honolulu Airport, where "rain chains" control the speed and trajectory of water falling from an open roof over most sidewalks. We have previously used it on all of the downspouts in our East Bay home in San Francisco. In both locations this fits well with our Asian fusion architecture.
