We used this chain in place of a downspout for the gutter on our Seattle porch. We got this idea from Honolulu Airport, where "rain chains" control the speed and trajectory of water falling from an open roof over most sidewalks. We have previously used it on all of the downspouts in our East Bay home in San Francisco. In both locations this fits well with our Asian fusion architecture. In Seattle the chain is perfect for the type of rain we get most of the time, creating a slow flow and droplets that are held to the chain by the chain's surface tension falling water. In California, it was a wonderful replacement for the twenty-foot downspouts that ran from our sloped roof well below the ground. The chain is light and strong, will not rust or allow moss to grow. very happy with it. Hey, did I mention it's cheap. Google the rain chain and get ready for some sticker shock.
