Improves joystick feel. For me, the PS4 joysticks were a bit small for my big fingers. They also have a thumb notch, but I find this keeps my thumb from rotating on the joystick. I have to be able to do that in order to be able to make precise movements in shooter games. That's where these grips come in. The rounded grip is reminiscent of the old PS3 controller. Try it, you will notice the difference.

If you're missing the entire thumb pad, even the bottom, it won't work without modifying the adhesive or enlarging the plastic part on the controller. Also, they tend to slip even on one that hasn't been peeled off and end up slipping off immediately. Which usually happens at a very inconvenient time. They're inexpensive though, here's the thing.

It should be clear in the description that this is for PS4 controller, not for XBOX. If you put them on an Xbox controller, they will fall off. I'm pretty happy with them on my PS4 controllers considering how much they cost. With the left stick in the high position, there is a noticeable improvement in aiming when playing FPS games. I've never used KontrolFreeks, don't know how that relates to this. But a pair of KontrolFreeks costs twice as much.

I can't play without them anymore. I use the highest. They hold up really well too, unless your controller gets stuck between the pillows on the couch or a toddler decides to chew on it. They loosened up a bit after being slid a few times but I love them so much I just put a drop of crazy glue on the rim. I'll never play without her again, so I don't care. The smooth and ultra-precise thrust from them is amazing, and the hand position on the PS4 controller has been greatly improved.

In general, these joystick cases are good and match the PS4 controller. I'd say I use them about 60% on my old controller that has worn out the left stick cover and about 5% on my newer controller. I didn't use the large joystick covers as they seemed quite cumbersome at first, but I think if that's what you're looking for they will do.
