Great product for M1 Mac. NOT for the new iMac M1

I bought and installed three of these. They work great with the new M1 MacMini and Macbook Air I have them with. However, they will NOT work with the new M1 iMac. Worked initially but stopped working after 24 hours. It actually smells like burnt electronics. I tried another brand new one and it didn't work at all. Works fine with my Macbook Air though. Maybe it's just my M1 iMac, but using Apple's proprietary HDMI/USB dongle works fine, nothing else. Perhaps Apple did this to encourage you to…

  • Everything great!

Works well with M1 Mac

I just bought a new M1 MacBook Pro and was concerned about the limitation of 1 external display, not only did this dock solve my problem (it allows up to 2 DisplayLink + 1 Display Thunderbolt + built-in the display, so 4 displays for Macs M1), but made my life so comfortable. All I have to do is plug in a USB-C and all my monitors, networks, USB drives, etc. are all connected. It's almost funny that I used to complain about the lack of ports on new Macs, but when you buy a dock like this, all…

Gnarly and unfinished

The dock has everything I need for my desktop, but it's very rough around the edges (not literally). The drivers the dock uses to use more than one monitor don't seem very stable, leading to a 10 minute software fix before each desktop session. However, once it works, I have no more problems as long as my computer stays connected to the network. Also, it would be nice if the dock was weighted like most of the competition. It's very light which causes my cables behind to tilt the dock so it…

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Some nuance

I like this docking station. I switched the display from laptop to plugable in two modes: with laptop USB-C to USB-C to plugable; and with a USB-AC adapter to a USB-C port of the connected device. Both worked great. I keep using the USB power adapter just because my HP Zbook laptop requires me to use an HP power adapter on a USB-C port. I connected 2 monitors to Plugable via HDMI ports, put them in extend mode for more screen workspace - I like the resolution, no flickering, very stable, just…

Highly productive and multitasking tool

I chose this more for a test case than anything else, but it works great in almost everything (more on that in a moment). I simply downloaded the drivers to my GS66 laptop, plugged it into the Thunderbolt port and my monitors into the plug-in and it worked straight away. Works great for any standard job. Dragging windows, multitasking, everything just works, and the 6 USB ports are a great bonus. All at a lower price than the manufacturer's standard offerings. Games are possible, but with one…

Great adapter to use 3 external monitors with my MacBook Pro M1

I have been working from home since 2010 and have been using 3 monitors for a few years. Overall, the plug-in did what it promised. I upgraded my MacBook Pro from a mid 2012 15" MacBook Pro to a 2021 13" MacBook Pro M1 using a Matrox TripleHead2Go adapter and needed to replace all my adapters to accommodate my Mac's triple monitor setup to maintain. I also wanted a few more USB ports because the MBP 13" only has 2 USB-C ports (one for power). Setup was pretty easy, the device and DisplayLink…
