I always buy PNY products when they become available.

PNY is one of those companies that I always prefer to buy. I had a great response to a warranty issue (notified Friday and received a replacement the following Tuesday). I always secure my flash drives with a strap since they have a habit of disappearing from my desk for a week or two. This makes it easier to find. This model is the easiest to use. Notice how I blamed the flash drive for the hiding, not myself!

Pros
  • Retractable capless design
Cons
  • Upgradeable

More speed, faster reaction!

The only limitation when using USB is connection speed (USB3 is fast enough) and mass storage speed. It's really important when you have a large amount of storage to transfer. It can also be connected to a tablet, helping to improve the user interface when you want to take a lot of files with you. Tablet operating systems are ridiculously slow and inefficient. At least it helps some. (I'll only deal with removable PCs in the future and the tablet OS is really bad - like running multiple appsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easily store and share videos, photos, music and more
Cons
  • For seniors

Slower than all other PNY USB 3.0 flash drives I own

So I have a lot of flash drives and I have one Relationship I love or hate for PNY. When they work, they're great. If they don't, they get upset. I have a 32GB PNY USB3.0 with 60Mbps write speed and a 64GB PNY Elite with 90Mbps write speed. The PNY Elite X offers 185Mbps, so I thought it would be a nice upgrade. The Elite X's write speeds were disappointing at 40Mbps. I think it's still better than USB 2.0 but less than a quarter of what I expected. (The format doesn't seem to matter, Fat32 was

Doesn't work properly - writes in bytes per second.

I was glad I bought this drive because it performed better than my previous drive (PNY Turbo 256GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive - P-FD256TBOP-GE). Turbo works great, no problems with it. Elite starts up fast and slows down quickly (less than a minute) from MB/s to bytes/s. Yes, bytes per second. Periodically, its speed dropped to 0.00 and stayed there for less than a minute; and then copy a few items before slowing down again. This happened regardless of whether they were USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports. Iโ€ฆ

Love it. PNY Elite x 256GB Flash Drive 3.0

I'm obsessed with the amount of space to back up my files. In 2007 I lost my entire desktop with files not yet backed up, we moved, lightning struck, the files cannot be recovered. All my digital photos and scanned photos from my grandmother's photo albums are gone. Lifelong memories meticulously scanned over a busy month, scrapbooks returned, photos lost. I will never make that mistake again. Since then I have backed up. I swear. Can I find more storage space on a smaller flash drive at aโ€ฆ

but to my great disappointment there is a very long delay in opening.

Some people claim the speed is "insane" or the fastest on the market. My experience is the complete opposite. I have several flash drives, all USB 3.0, and all are faster than this drive. I was keen to get and use it as a hard drive for transferring between systems at work/home. but to my great disappointment there is a very long delay opening each folder, starting copying, etc. Even when copying is complete, the disk light blinks long after the transfer is complete, and before I eject theโ€ฆ
