Description of Portable filter Katadyn Vario

Katadyn Vario is a fast portable water filter. Designed for outdoor use and effectively purifies water of varying degrees of contamination - from clear to cloudy. Works in two modes. The new Katadyn microfilter uses ceramic as the main cleaning element. An additional glass fiber membrane provides microbiological filtration without increasing inflation resistance. In the "Long life" mode, cloudy water is first pre-filtered through a ceramic disc (1 l/min). In the "Fast Flow" mode, water passes directly through the glass fiber membrane, increasing the filtration rate to 2 l/min. Removable activated carbon cartridge reduces chemicals, improves taste and smell. The piston mechanism does not require additional effort and provides a continuous flow of water. Resource - up to 2000 liters. Replacement cartridges sold separately (ceramic cartridge, glass fiber membrane, activated carbon granules) Thanks to the adapter Katadyn Vario is compatible with bottles with different neck widths.

Wonderful quality, one hundred percent satisfied!

I took Vario based on the price, but did not take into account thecomst of spares. But there are nocomplaints orcomplaints, since the build quality is good, even if plastic, in addition to the ceramic filter, is also used fiberglass and carbon. Almostcompletely eliminates foreign smells and tastes, which cannot be said about Pocket. Pleasantly pleased with the inscription made in Switzerland. I have been using it for a year and a half somewhere, filtered out, maybe three hundred liters. I don’t

Pros
  • Three degrees of purification - from debris, microorganisms, impurities, third-party odors and tastes. The declared resource is up to 2022 liters for ceramics and 400 liters for coal. Simple and easy to use. Just as easy to clean. Usually I throw in a tactical backpack in the side valve, so it doesn’t take up much space.
Cons
  • High cost of replacement filters. If compared with the Pocket model, it turns out that the filter itself is half the price, but inferior in terms of resource by twenty-five times. That is, Vario costs an average of 4000. at the same time, both spare replacement filters will be set at 3000-3500, which will give out a resource of 4000 liters, and Pocket on one of its filters at a cost of 11000 gives out a resource of 50000.

I've never seen anything worse! A terrible purchase.

The first use within 2 weeks passed with a bang. This filter uninterruptedly provided drinking water to three healthy men after filtering it from a not quite clean river. On the trip the following year, the filter worked for a week and burst in my hands. A piece of plastic fell off the top cover, breaking the seal. In field conditions, it was not possible to repair. I had to boil and drink smelly water from the river. By the way, it was not possible to repair it even upon returning home - not a
