I used it to help me climb into my "sleeping tent" which is on top of my bed. Worked well until it broke. I only weigh 91 kg. My bed is on a low-pile carpet. The instructions don't say not to use it on a carpet. I am assuming that low pile carpets count as "unstable surfaces"? Very disappointed.

I liked it at first when I got in the car. I am disabled and find it difficult to get into one of the SUVs. It was great until the hinges broke when I was using it. It is designed for people weighing up to 300 pounds. I'm 220 so it's not a problem. I have a 4" and have no problems with it. Do not buy this one.

My elderly mom needed something to help her on the porch steps and on that threshold that leads to our house. It's perfect because it's not a full size stool, she just had to lift up a bit to cover the height difference as she has a hard time getting her legs very high. It also helps her get in and out of my compact SUV. It's basically shorter than the stepladder you would use to reach something high, so it's perfect for my mom.

I bought it to use for climbing but it was taken apart the first day I stood there. I thought because I was too heavy 140lbs but my 120lb son got up but the same thing happened. I tried to fix it again and the same thing happens. I was on the boat so couldn't return it for a refund but I have no plans to use it. This is an accident waiting in the wings. There is no cheaper product. Unfortunately we didn't need it right away so first use was 8 days outside the return window and I can't return it. I liked the look of the product and was excited to use it, but it is not intended for someone who is over 200 pounds like me. I used it 3 times after opening it but when I stepped on it the 3rd time the middle and ends started sagging. I examined it and found that one of the folding flaps was torn. Crazy glue could probably fix this and I put it away for emergencies. I think if the item were about an inch thicker on all sides and if it had a support section down the middle it would be the best…

Update: If you pinched your toe while unboxing, we've probably found the wrong foot. Looking more closely at the design, the pinch hazard I mentioned is reduced by the piano-style hinge limiting flex in that area. This construction also increases resilience, although "durable" is not an adjective I would associate with any folding device without a locking system.
