This is a one-to-one replacement for the Dune Racer style switch. The only difference is the size and shape of the gear knob. In general, it only affects appearance. This is actually a really good buy and cheaper than buying the chains individually and fitting them into your current derailleur. We have a pink dune buggy and this switch came in and everything worked perfectly again. There is a downside to this product, I'm not sure why people think it doesn't. Our problem was that sometimes the car would move and sometimes it wouldn't, and then reverse would engage. Installation took about 10 minutes. I recommend this product and the seller.

Replacing the shifter is quite a job. You need to remove the handlebar and shaft, unscrew 6 screws and pry off some plastic clips. Once this is complete, replacing the switch will be easy. Great for the dune racer. In some reviews I noticed people saying they couldn't have forward or reverse speed. I plugged this in and got two speeds backwards and one speed forward. I fixed it by rotating the top switch 180 degrees. Problem solved. Now two speeds forward and one reverse. Just play around with the configuration a bit. It looks like they don't install them properly from the factory, and the quality of the switch body itself seems lacking. But for $10 how can I complain, it works.

It looks like a direct replacement for the old Barbie Jeep Sunjammer, but it lacks speed (I think it was the other way around). I found this out when inspecting the part prior to installation, it only made two clicks while the old switch made three separate clicks.
