Yes, mounting kit must be purchased separately. But look on the bright side, if you do fall and you do it will be cheaper to just replace the guard or strut rather than both. However, $65 is a fair price for both. They look killer and they will survive a crash. Believe me. LOL With all the colors to match any bike, they're a great accessory.

I just find it lame I'm buying protections and can't get what I need to install them on my bike. more dollars. so doubtful. Bought a mounting kit because it would be easier than sending it back. Easy to install and they protect my hands very well from the wind and hopefully protect against an impact. People splicing stars because they don't understand you need a mounting kit.
