Works perfectly. not exactly sandalwood though.

When it comes to beards and shaving, I love scents. Oak, Sage, Lemongrass. Mugwort. And shaving oil can do SO MUCH to reduce burns and razor bumps, and this oil absolutely does it. I used this shaving oil with some Viking Revolution shaving cream and THIS stuff has a bombastic AMAZING smell. This oil WORKS great. Close shave and fresh skin. And it doesn't smell BAD by any means, but if you're hoping to be overwhelmed by a musky, woody, masculine scent. it's not quite right yet. However, it…

It changed my life!

I shave once or twice a week and have grown a lot during that time. I always get scrapes when I wet shave, whether the blade is new or has been used more than 4 times. Very frustrating. This preshave oil has changed my life for the better. I've had 0 nicknames since using this. I still get a slight sting in one spot, but before using preshave oil, I kept getting cuts in the same spot. It made shaving more comfortable and MUCH less irritation. I know that part of my problem is related to my…

Fantastic support service

Hello everyone reading this. About 10 days ago I decided to start shaving with a DE safety razor after years of shaving with a cartridge. I did some research on the subject and found that all experts agree that applying a quality pre-shave oil before lathering is part of this time-honored tradition. I looked at the various options and found that the Viking brand comes at a reasonable price with low risk, so not a purchase that costs a tidy sum. I received the product about a day after ordering…

Where's the Scent?: Men's

It should have been noted in the photo of the bottle where the sandalwood scent is the smallest amount of any ingredient in the recipe. I smell absolutely nothing when I use this. I'm guessing from a utilitarian standpoint, which isn't critical to the product's performance, but when it's advertised as "sandalwood" you'd think it should at least be recognizable in scent. I could also use olive oil from the supermarket. I will not buy again. It was a good price and it could be even better if they

Inexpensive but well below average

My regular oil that I loved was gone, becoming smooth, clear and warming up when rubbed in. I didn't want to pay €25. for a popular brand, so I chose Viking. It's cheap so it was worth a try for $8. It turns white after rubbing it on my face, I didn't find it helped much. I basically shaved in the shower again to make sure my beard was soft instead of relying on this oil. To be honest it reminded me of trying to make my own oil from an online recipe. I didn't like it either.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • For old

shaving oil is totally unnecessary but for what I use it for it works . let me explain. When I try something new, I'm totally ready. So when I started wet shaving about 13 years ago, I overdid it: research, test, buy; I even flew to London to visit and shop at some of the original stores (Turefitt & Hill, TOBS, Trumper's, Penhaligon's etc) although I was able to buy their stuff locally. I've used creams, soaps, mild soaps, shaving sticks, oils, badger hair, boar hair. You name it, I've tried…
