No more frozen fingers!

Excellent replacement part. Works exactly as it should. Only 2 stars in the "easy to install" category because by design this item is a real problem to install.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Very expensive

My first 2005 Ford Expedition XLT

Fits my 2005 Ford Expedition XLT. Please note that this model does not have installation videos as the radio frame makes it almost impossible to simply slide this unit back into the bay opening. Be creative! After installation it works perfectly.

Pros
  • Like everything before
Cons
  • Almost never

Part was dead on arrival.

Replaced the old actuator with a new one, turned on the AC to check the transition from the floor to ceiling vents. Nothing. Checked electrical connection again, still nothing. The original actuator still barely worked, plugged back into the harness and it worked. The only conclusion is that this new part does not turn on or is broken upon arrival. Buy Motorcraft and avoid these guys.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Weak kit

As good as the original part

I had a mixed door actuator that was making clicking noises due to broken gear teeth. There is an option to just buy the gears as a conversion kit, but the price was about the same as buying a similar mixed door operator. I didn't have to worry about opening the actuator and changing gears as all I had to do was remove the old actuator and replace it with this one. Works perfectly and is just as quiet. If it lasts 10 years like the original, then the costs paid are worth it.

Pros
  • Quick replacement
Cons
  • High price

Research really helps install DIY

I've put this off for too long. Clicking noise in the dashboard when adjusting the air conditioning? This is the part you need. For years I blocked and adjusted by hand depending on the season. Pooh. Installation was a lot easier than I expected. After several sessions on YouTube and adding another step by comfortably removing the seat, the procedure became much more tolerable. With the right tools it took less than an hour. Should have done that many years ago. It would be better if they made…

Works but very hard to get

Install today. Seems to be working very well. Pretty reasonable for the price. Here's the thing, the Ford Expedition has maybe literally 2 millimeters of room to slide it in and out. This particular part seemed slightly larger than the OEM part, I even measured the width with a caliper and it measured correctly. accurate to 1/100th of an inch, but it just doesn't fit in the hole. Once I inserted it into the hole the piece didn't quite fit snugly, I had to push it in to get it all the way in…

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • Useless features

I had a 2003 Explorer that ran at full power all the time. Google got me on this part almost immediately and horror stories about how it's a $600 job and the dash needs to be taken apart etc. I've seen people tie zip ties or shoelaces to the faucet door handle to manually toggle between full heat and no heat. I didn't do this, but I did confirm that if the lever didn't move at all when changing the setting, the actuator wasn't working. . All you need is a 7, 8 and 10mm jack. I would recommend a
