💡 12V Universal Utility Outlet from Prime Products (Model 08-5010) Review

Works well and even better than expected. I wanted something that could handle a lighter and most of the newer types don't make them like they used to. This outlet is made the old fashioned way and I'm glad there's a company that still makes them this way. I installed a couple of these in my tiny shed hut to conserve energy with my 12v solar battery when using so many AC/DC transformers and such.

Works as expected, just as easy to plug in as any similar socket. Note that the protruding base ring shown here is optional so it can be flush mounted. (much cleaner, IMHO) or with less rear projection (e.g. on an RV wall) right up to you. I inserted mine through the wall of the closet behind the stereo, so I removed the extension barrel so I don't have to stick my nose out when nothing is plugged in.

This socket looks great and works great. It has a spade connector and a screw/nut connector for two different wires. Make sure you (of course) put the positive wire in the center post or he'll fry your son's phone charger! :-( But that was my fault, it's not the jar's fault. It's just stamped metal so not super high quality (that's why I'm giving 4 stars) but it should serve you well and last a long time. I would recommend this one Recommend Product.

Made of pewter therefore has sharp edges on the outside that could cut you or scratch the wall. Take care of it by rubbing it on a piece of sandpaper. It sticks out about half an inch, which others thought was an issue they fixed, but I liked it. That way it doesn't protrude so much at the back, so I had enough room for it. The ground wire tab feels solid and probably won't break, which happened on my last one, a different brand.

Works as expected. The quality of the goods is very good! The finish is really chrome plated which is great. It comes with a thin plastic cover for protection. When you receive this product, it is best to remove the center cap from the faceplate, remove the cover, and then reassemble. I have a self contained cabin with solar panels and a deep cycle battery. I used standard 120V incandescent bulbs and lights with 12V LED bulbs installed. I cut the 120 volt plugs off all the bulbs and installed a cigarette lighter style round plug.
