Iced Salad Dome Lid by Prodyne Review

I ordered two of these salad bowls for a summer picnic. In general I was satisfied with them. Outer acrylic bowl/lid/serving is thick, transparent and beautiful. But the stainless steel inner shell is very thin and not like the pictures. I'm surprised that mfr describes it as 18/8 stainless steel because it definitely looks like 18/0 or at most 18/5. I used it for the first time yesterday at a picnic next door. My area is in Florida. So I really wanted my banana pudding to stay cold and safe to eat. I didn't like that you couldn't attach a travel lid, so I taped Press n Seal to the stainless steel bowl and just wrapped the lid separately. We have been looking for an item like this for a long time to cool the fruit salad that we serve for breakfast. It cools pretty well and pleases the local health department. Simply add some more ice to the bowl and set the stainless steel bowl on top, sticking out about half an inch over the rim. Over time, it settles on ice.
