I tried this item for a week and it only keeps 30% of the hair on the top of the plate, most of the hair goes to the bottom of the plate which means between the tub and this plate enough clearance for the passage of hair. I have used this on my standard bath drain and on my large standing shower drain. Both fit perfectly and catch all the hair while letting the water through! I used to get very frustrated with my bathtub drain being constantly clogged by another drain filter that didn't sit flat. I also bathe my dogs with THIS filter and it catches their finer hair too. When I'm done, I take the filter and very lightly wipe any collected hair straight into the trash. I like that nothing gets stuck in the filter!

I bought this product with very high expectations based on rave reviews. I was thrilled to get it and use it myself. Unfortunately, my own experience differs from the reviews here.
