Simple and effective

I've tried all kinds of cork openers and this one is the simplest and the best. Cheaper and better than other more sophisticated models. I'm the perfect addition to any kitchen or basement.

Pros
  • Solid surface
Cons
  • Useless features

(UPDATED) ORIGINAL PULLTAP'S

Finally a REAL Pulltap corkscrew! I've bought too many "genuine pulltap" lately only to end up with fake ones. Mind you, they were pretty good and heavy, but they all came back. That's the real deal and I'm glad to have it.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Skip the pulltap; too many fakes on revain

Poor quality and most likely fake. The blade is loose and wobbly and the hinge does not open cleanly. I bought this opener and Truepull (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007LOXKN2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and much higher quality Truepull for 1/4 less.

Pros
  • waiting for
Cons
  • protection

Best in class, best corkscrew and bottle opener

I have had many corkscrews over the years and prefer the 'waiter' style with two hinges. In its price range, this is the best option. They have a classic look and work very well. If I have any complaints, it's that they feel a little light and flimsy compared to some of the more expensive options on the market. But if you're looking for the best above-average option, then this is it.

Pros
  • Trial version for one year
Cons
  • Available in white only

The one I received seemed genuine

I received one in red and it seems great - all the correct markings and a quality to match the older one. Certainly not an odd smell as reported in another recent review. That being said, I bought 4 cheaper versions. One of them is either real or a wonderful fake. The other 3 are definitely fake but they are probably worth the price. "You pay your money and you take a risk," Mark Twain is quoted as saying, quoting someone else.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • There are nuances

Best in class - waiter's corkscrew

I've owned many corkscrews over the years and prefer the double-hinged waiter's corkscrew. At its price, this is the best option. They have a classic look and work very well. If I have any issues it is that they feel a bit light and flimsy compared to some of the more expensive options on the market. But if you're looking for the best option above average, this is it.

Pros
  • French designed spiral with the perfect angle for a perfect cork entry
Cons
  • Some little things

Smells Terrible Best of Bar & Wine Tools

Just received my Pulltaps 500 in Black. That thing smells awful. like a strong aftershave! I ran it through the dishwasher. Still bad. I cooked on the stove. A small improvement. There is an open cavity behind the handle. I thought maybe there was something in there so I decided to cook it. Right now I'm sitting on my couch and he's on the armrest about a foot away from me. I can still smell it! I can only assume it's paint or a soft plastic pen. Unfortunately it's coming back as I liked the…
