I have had a variety of 18 volt systems that I have used for carpentry work but I prefer the smaller 12 volt system for workshop use. This drill has enough power for what I use it for. I have a corded drill for continuous drilling, but I rarely use it. SKIL's new cordless tools are a big step forward compared to previous efforts.
Bought this for my kid to have in the first new location. I tried it as soon as I arrived. The chuck doesn't jam, which I knew and isn't usually a problem. But with the drill bit in the chuck, I set the torque switch to "drill" and the speed switch to "2" — right where I want them to be for drilling.
